Matthias Spaetgens is Partner and Chief Creative Officer of Scholz & Friends. In Berlin, he also oversees creative direction. He is also head of the unit for graphic design and advertising at the University of Applied Arts Vienna as a professor there. Spaetgens studied graphic design in Munich and worked there as a designer following graduation. He began his career at Scholz & Friends in 1997 and his time has included periods in Hamburg, Zurich and Berlin. Matthias Spaetgens is one of the most acclaimed German creatives. His work for brands, which include A. Lange & Söhne, the F.A.Z., jobsintown.de, Loewe, Mercedes-Benz, STIHL and Weru, has won many awards, including more than 20 Lions in Cannes and the Grand Prix at international creativity festivals six times. From 2007 to 2009 he attended the international Berlin School of Creative Leadership, which he graduated from with an Executive MBA. He is a member of ADC Germany, ADC Switzerland and the British D&AD.
