For insurer VHV we send Til Schweiger on a holiday with barriers

In its new films for insurer VHV Versicherungen, Scholz & Friends Hamburg is sending Til Schweiger on holiday – together with his daughter Lilli. The TV ad “Mobile” will have its premier on 27 June 2018 following the German national team’s third game of the Football World Cup.

The commercial’s opening situation is one that will likely be a familiar one to many parents: when the kid is “fiddling” with their mobile, the family’s patience is quickly tried. And Papa Schweiger is far from the exception with his cool-but-bored daughter in the ad. Despite being in holiday “mode”, he’s starting to get a headache – and a lantern takes care of the rest …

“The ad shows in a likeable and charming way that Til Schweiger is a person just like you and I and isn’t immune to the mishaps of everyday life, big or small,” explains Roland Bös, Managing Director of Scholz & Friends.

The TV commercial is a continuation of insurer VHV’s campaign with Til Schweiger that has been running since 2015. The spot advertises the VHV accident insurance and forms part of an orchestrated campaign that includes print ads, mailings and online measures.

Dr Per-Johan Horgby, Head of Branding at VHV Versicherungen, is enthusiastic about the actor’s work on behalf of VHV: “If we as a brand want to continue to grow, we need the absolute best. So the fact that we have been able to team up with Til Schweiger, one of Germany’s most successful artists, on this is really exciting!”

In the new ads, Til Schweiger takes on not only the role of main protagonist, but also acts as director and producer through his film company Barefoot Films. “The collaboration with Til has been one of great passion for the little details. They are what make our ads such loveable mini feature films for the commercial break,” adds Markus Daubenbüchel, Managing Director Creative at Scholz & Friends, pleased with the joint creative result.

VHV has been working together with Scholz & Friends as lead agency for more than ten years. The campaign mechanism and claim “Von Experten versichert” (Insured by the experts) have been consistently extended – first with Dieter Bohlen, whose TV ad testimonials garnered the Schadenfreude of many a viewer; in 2015 Til Schweiger was brought on board for the brand. This continuity in brand management and agency relationship has paid returns: brand awareness for VHV has risen from around 30 per cent in 2009 when the campaign was launched to currently 66 per cent.
